Service in Chimala:
January, 2005 - present

Brandon and Michelle Marshall, along with their three children, come to us from Paoli, Indiana. They originally met with the elders at New York Avenue concerning going to Chimala in late 2004, while attending preaching school. Then, after graduation, in the summer of 2005, they continued raising their support in order to serve the Lord in Chimala. In October 2005 Brandon and family left Texas for at least a two year tour.

They have now been in Chimala for a year. They have adjusted well and continue to work hard. Brandon primarily works with Chimala School of Preaching, serving as an instructor. He also heads up the evangelism program in Mbeya, by working to strengthen the young Christians and new congregations there. Michelle’s primary responsibility is to her children. She teaches Hannah, who is in 2nd grade, and has just started teaching Isaac, who is kindergarten age. Michelle also heads up the HIV/AIDS program at the hospital, and occasionally works in various other areas of the hospital.

Service in Chimala:
January, 2004 - present

Chris and Tam Raynor have faithfully served the Lord in Chimala since January 2004. They recently signed on to serve at least another two years in Chimala, putting them there at least through December 2008. As of March 2007 they still need to raise about $1,000.00 more a month to continue to serve the Lord in Chimala. If you are interested in supporting them, please contact Heath Stapleton. Chris is now the missionary-in-charge of Chimala School of Preaching and part of the evangelism program. He is in charge of day-to-day activities and teaches almost daily at the school. He also works with the Primary School on the mission and teaches Bible and helps with the administration there.

Tam, as well, keeps very busy using her many talents in Chimala. She teaches ladies classes, art classes, and language classes throughout the mission. She teaches at the schools and even teaches language, writing and research at the college. She does a great job in increasing the knowledge of those she helps, and working alongside her husband. Tam has a newsletter that she has put out for several years. Her newsletters are attached to this site, and we hope you will stop by and read them. She is a very gifted writer, and quite capable of describing what she sees and deals with daily in a manner very few can.

Please keep them in your prayers.

Service in Chimala:
1999 - 2007

It is with regret that this information has been updated.

Darrin and Carrie have served the Lord in Chimala since May 1999. For almost eight years they have labored faithfully in operating the business aspect of the entire mission. During their time much progress has been made, so much, we really can't mention it all. Since Darrin arrived he has basically built a large part of the future Secondary School at the mission, getting it to the point where we can open soon. He has started and almost completed most of the construction of the new Bible College. Only a couple buildings are left for others to complete. He has continued the advancement of the hospital. Right now we have more Tanzanian doctors than we have ever had. He also oversaw the construction of a new eye and dental wing, along with many other advances at the hospital.

Though they worked hard with the business aspect of the mission, over the years at Chimala, Darrin has grown into a quite capable evangelist and gospel preacher. For years they have worked with various congregations near Chimala, helping to strengthen them. Darrin also took what little time he had to try and teach an occasional class or two at the school of preaching. The most important part is that during his tenure at Chimala around 3,000 people have been added to Christ, and several dozen congregations have been established throughout southern Tanzania, along with close to 75 young men graduating from Chimala School of Preaching.

After 8 years Darrin and Carrie have decided to return to the States in order for Darrin to continue his education. We ask that you please keep them in your prayers. Lord willing, one day they will return to Chimala to continue their service there.

Bob and Marcia Stapleton were baptized early in their married life in Portsmouth, Ohio in the early 1970’s.  After Bob’s conversion he soon developed a passion for preaching, which ultimately lead to a passion of soul-winning in Africa.  In 1983, while in his second full-time work in Windham, Ohio, Bob & Marcia were approached by Andrew Connally who asked them to consider moving to Chimala to replace Wayne & Flo Smalling, who had made their intentions known to the overseeing elders that they wanted to return home.

In the fall of 1983 the Stapleton family moved to Paradise, Texas to be near the overseeing congregation of Chimala in order to prepare and raise support for the move in June of 1984.  During this time Bob mentioned his desire to not only serve as the Business Manager of the mission, but also to work hand in hand with the evangelism program. He also indicated to them his plans to start a preaching training school, of which none existed at that time in Tanzania.

In June 1984 Bob and Marcia, along with their four children, moved to Chimala and served for three years.  During this tour, close to 1,000 souls were added to Christ and 10 congregations were started in the Mbeya Region.  In 1988 the Stapleton family returned to the States, were Bob began to serve the local congregation in Paoli, Indiana as their preacher.

In June 1994 Bob and Marcia, along with their two youngest children, went back to serve a 2nd tour in Chimala, where they served until April 1998.  At that time they returned to Arlington, Texas where Bob served as the Coordinator of the Chimala work until December 2003, when he took over the directorship of the Brown Trail School of Preaching in Bedford, Texas.

Right now Bob continues in an advisory role for the Chimala effort.  All three of their sons and their families have served or are serving with Chimala in a full time capacity as missionaries.  Their daughter Lisa has also been involved in the work and continues to make trips to Chimala from time to time. Bob still returns to Chimala every two years, and is planning on returning, perhaps with a group of campaigners, to Chimala in June 2007.  If you are interested in traveling, and working with this group please contact chimalaheath@cmhcbc.org.

Cyndi's Letters Home

Bill and Cyndi Stinson arrived safely in Chimala the latter part of January 2007. Since then they have been very busy trying to learn every aspect of the work before Darrin departs. They also must learn all of this while dealing with a new language and culture. Thus a lot, almost an unfair burden, has in very little time been placed on their shoulders.

Since they have arrived they have adjusted well, and are spending from sunup to sundown, learning, working, and preparing to operate everything without Darrin. They have also learned quite a bit about mission work in a short time. I think the greatest lesson they have learned is that visiting a work on a campaign, or for a couple weeks, does not one an expert make. They now have first hand knowledge what it is like to be a missionary, and that knowledge will only grow with time..

Since they are new to the field they will have their ups and downs. Please keep them in your prayers. It is very difficult, and sometimes impossible for some to just give up everything one has known to take on a new work, culture and language as they have. Thus they need our prayers, and the faithful owe them at least that!

We want to thank everyone who had decided to support this family. Their complete support has been raised, and we appreciate your help!

Cyndi, like Tam, will too put out a newsletter each month. Her newsletter is attached to this site. If you would like her to send you directly her newsletter, please e-mail me at chimalaheath@yahoo.com
